This is the
birth- place of Thunchath Ezhuthachan, the father of Malayalam language and the
hallowed ground where children are initiated into the world of alphabets. On Vijayadasami day, people from different places come here
for Vidyaramoham, the ceremony in which
children are initiated into learning. The iron stylus with which Ezhuthachan
wrote on palm leaves and the ancient kanjira tree (Nux vomica)
under which he taught his disciples and composed his poems, are
treasured exhibits here. Unlike the fruits of kanjira trees
found elsewhere, the fruit of this tree is not bitter. The memorial also boasts
of granite Sarawathi mandapam and a library with
rare manuscripts.
